| Gels (such as cryohydrate polymers) designed to act as temporary barriers against postoperative adhesion between tissues and organs. These gels are applied to the surface of tissues and organs at the end of surgery, before the procedure is completed, and are usually absorbed by the body within a short period of time (such as several days or weeks). Postoperative adhesion prevention gels are commonly used as adhesion barriers in spinal surgeries (such as laminectomy), tendon surgery, and procedures involving areas around nerves. Some of these gels are also used in pelvic, gynecological, abdominal, or implant surgeries. |
