Introduction and general information Laparoscopic Stapler Cartridge
| Small pieces of thin metal wire, usually U-shaped, designed to mechanically join tissues together. Surgical staples are generally made from biocompatible, non-absorbable, corrosion-resistant metals such as stainless steel, chromium, or titanium, or from metal alloys. They are manufactured in various shapes and diameters depending on their intended application, such as for bone, blood vessels, or skin.
Surgical staples are used during procedures to join various organs and tissues, particularly for anastomosis of tubular structures such as the gastrointestinal tract and blood vessels. Other types of staples are used for closing skin wounds. Most surgical staples are applied using specialized instruments, such as staplers and stapling devices. In general, stapling is faster than conventional suturing techniques and causes less tissue trauma. |
