Introduction and general information HD IV Infusion Set

What Is an IV Infusion Set?

An IV infusion set is a device used for intravenous administration. It serves as a connection between the patient and the container holding the infusion fluid and is used to slowly deliver fluids containing medications or nutrients into the patient’s body.

Introduction to the HD IV Infusion Set

An IV infusion set provides a connection between the container holding the infusion fluid and the patient’s vein. It delivers nutrients or medications into the patient’s body, helping improve the patient’s physical condition. Various companies in Iran and around the world are continuously working to manufacture these medical devices and supply high-quality products to global markets. Many of these manufacturers have achieved high standards and gained the trust of healthcare professionals.

One of the reputable brands that manufactures IV infusion sets according to standard principles is HD from China. Unlike many other Chinese products, HD infusion sets offer high quality at an affordable price. The HD IV infusion set features flexible and transparent tubing that efficiently transfers the infusion fluid to the patient’s body and remains intact when bent. The transparency of the tubing allows nurses to easily detect air bubbles and perform proper air removal.

Like other reputable manufacturers, HD uses a 15-micron filter in the drip chamber of its infusion set. This filter helps prevent potential particles in the infusion fluid from entering the patient’s body and helps protect the patient from contamination.

The roller clamp of the HD IV infusion set operates smoothly. By moving along the flexible tubing, it allows the infusion flow rate to be increased or decreased and can also completely stop the flow. The HD IV infusion set, including all its components, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, non-toxic, and single-use medical device. It is sterilized using ethylene oxide (EtO) gas and is available in packs of 25 units and cartons of 500 units.

Features of the HD IV Infusion Set

  • Features a latex flashback chamber.
  • Equipped with a valve or roller clamp that allows the infusion flow rate to be increased, decreased, or completely stopped.
  • Includes a clamp for regulating the fluid flow.
  • Features a transparent drip chamber that allows nurses to observe the movement of droplets and ensure that the infusion set is properly prepared for use.
  • Features flexible tubing and high-quality components.
  • The features and specifications of this medical device comply with applicable medical standards.
  • HD IV infusion sets are sterile, non-pyrogenic, non-toxic, and intended for single use.

The technical specifications of the HD IV infusion set are provided in the table below.

Components of the HD IV Infusion Set

The spike is inserted into the IV fluid container and allows the fluid to enter the drip chamber. There are two openings at the top of the spike. The first opening allows the fluid to flow from the container into the drip chamber. The second opening is connected to an air filter and allows air to enter the IV fluid container, preventing the container from collapsing. In older designs without an air filter, a needle was inserted into the IV fluid container to prevent it from collapsing. However, this could allow bacteria and contaminants to enter the fluid.

The drip chamber holds approximately 15 to 20 drops, equivalent to about 1 cc.

Like a blood transfusion set, the IV infusion set contains a membrane filter with pore openings of approximately 15 microns. The filter is located at the bottom of the drip chamber and helps prevent crystallized and colloidal particles from entering the patient’s bloodstream.

After the IV fluid passes into the drip chamber and is filtered, it flows through the tubing and roller clamp for flow regulation and finally reaches the terminal connector, which is connected to an IV catheter or Scalp Vein Set.

The HD IV Infusion Set is an infusion system consisting of tubing, a spike, a drip chamber, and a roller clamp. It is used for intravenous administration, allowing IV fluids, medications, or other solutions to be delivered directly into the patient’s vein.
