Introduction and general information Disposable infusion Pump
The Pain Relief Pump is designed to continuously and gradually deliver medication to help keep patients pain-free or reduce their level of pain over a specified period. These pumps are used to manage patient pain by delivering different doses of morphine or other medications prescribed by a physician before or after surgery or during antibiotic treatment. Pain relief pumps are commonly used to administer medications that need to be delivered to the patient at a specific rate over a period of 24 to 48 hours. In a simple pain relief pump, the infusion rate remains constant.
The methods of administering analgesic medication using a PCA (Patient-Controlled Analgesia) pump include intravenous (IV), epidural, subcutaneous, and regional administration.
